Missing Icons

For some unknown reason the Icons for Audio & Battery/Power status have disappeared from the tool bar on my notebook computer. I've gon into the control pannel for and checked the setup for both the tool bar and the individual items and the items have been tagged to visible. I've even tried resetting the properties for tool bar to have these items dispaly all the time with no success.
Any Ideas
 
Can you go into control panel, then power options and see if there is a check next to show battery in system tray
