Mike

I am pretty good moving around and using XP Home. I
understand about services.msc and msconfig. I ran into a
stupid problem I cannot fix. My Dad's XP Home machine used
to have 2 icons down in the tray--one for his Lan card for
his notebook that said something like "Wireless Connection
Enabled" and another one for his wired connection that
said "Local Area Connection A Network Cable is unplugged"
He noticed that they are gone. His wireless connection is
working ok-just the 2 icons with the little computer
screens-- one behind the other --are gone. He keeps asking
me to fix it--I guess he has seen them so much he thinks
something is wrong. Can anyone help?
He has been using SpyBot SD and Spyware Blaster and
Adaware.I don't know when they disappeared. Thanks--Mike

Control Panel --> Network Connections
Right-Click on the Network Interface in question, choose Properties.
Under the General tab, look at the bottom for "Show icon in notification
area when connected" and check it.
Repeat as needed.

Damn!!-- Thanks Shenan!! I must have hit the properties
tab a million times but the brain never recalled the "show
notification" !! Thanks again for the speedy reply--Mike
