The icons in the folder list in Windows Explorer (and in
the favorites and history list in IE) are missing. I
have tried everything I know to make them visible without
success. This is a new install from a Windows XP Home
disc. Icons are visible in the details section of the
screen.

Any ideas?

.
Windows Explorer/Tools/Folder options/View tab/under
Advanced Settings, tick the "Show Hidden files", click
Apply and OK.

You could try downloading and running FavOrg
Line 108, right:
