Missing icon

I'm running XP home on a Gateway. I have lost the icon in the Startup tray that shows internet activity (the one that looks like two monitors that change color). I have apparently checked or unchecked a box somewhere and caused it to go away and I would like it back. How can I do this? Thanks

Start> control panel> network connections> your connection to your ISP>
Properties> Show icon in notification area when connected.

Hi,

I also have this problem, except, according to my properties, it should be there.
Any ideas?
