help,im running windows xp pro, my disk is partitioned into
9g and 31G...the os is on the 9G and i use the other
partition of all other data. Problem is when i highlight
all the folders and files, its coming to about 7G. however,
the disk is showing 10G used, is this normal or what? My
laptop is even worse, the 11.7G partition is supposed to
have about 6G free, but only 3.47G is showing...

Some space on each drive (partition) is reserved for virtual
memory and other tasks, also you may have some hidden system
files. You can check the amount of space allocated to
virtual memory and perhaps regain some of it. Al;so, do a
disk clean-up and remove all but the most recent system
restore point (more tab).

Also if you are running Norton, check your recycle bin and delete all
protected files...they are really nothing.
That's what I do and have no issues whatsoever with anything not running
when I delete those files

Good Luck
