My system fonts are missing. How do I reinstall them? I
keep getting symbols instead of letters displayed on my
monitor and as printed info. Microsoft Word would not
allow New Times Roman to be the default setting because a
message says that this font has not been installed.
Thanks, any help would be appreciated.

To install fonts, you go to your Control Panel, click on
File, and then Install New Font. The only problem is,
that won't work to restore your Windows default fonts
that came with WinXP. The easiest way to restore your
missing Windows fonts is to do a repair installation of
Windows XP. The fact that your fonts are suddenly
missing may just be one symptom of a bigger problem. Re-
installing Windows may repair the problem that caused you
to lose the fonts to begin with.

To perform a repair installation of Windows XP, follow
the directions listed at
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-
us;315341&Product=winxp. If your newsreader screws up
this link, you can always go to www.microsoft.com, click
on support, and search for KB (knowledge base) article
number 315341.

Also, don't worry about losing your programs or files
already on your computer. As long as you do a "Repair
Installation" as the directions describe, it will only
repair Windows and not delete any of your files.
