Hi,

I got some missing fields in my tables which I can view
them from the relationships diagram but not on the design
mode.

When I try to add them in, I got "cannot define field more
than once" error.

Anyone knows what's happening?

Thank you :)

Hi,

I'm able to see those missing fields now by showing system
objects.

Anyone knows how to switch the fields back to normal
objects?

Open the table.

From the GUI menu format, you should be able to
unhide the columns.

Hi Perry,

Thank you for replying.

The columns are not hidden. They are converted to system
objects, and they would not be shown if I uncheck the show
system objects option.

You know any ways of converting the columns back to
normal?

I've created a new database and imported the tables over.
The columns are normal now. But I still like to find out
whether is it possible to convert the column in the
existing database.

It really sounds like the database is corrupted, probably with a bad
system table. Your solution of importing to a new database is just
what I would have suggested!

Hi John,

Guess what? After I replicated the database, the fields
are being converted again.

You have any idea what's happening?

None whatsoever! I don't know any way to make a *field* in an
otherwise normal table a hidden or system field. Tables, yes, but not
fields!

What version of Access? What Service Packs? Any VBA code in the table?
Are the fields disappearing from table datasheet view, table design
view, or both? Do they look different (greyed?) when you view system
objects? What are some representative fieldnames?

Hi John,

Thanks for your reply again :)

I think my problem is same as

8&oe=UTF-8&threadm=3c04fe46%240%24236%24cc9e4d1f%

Except that it's upgraded to 2002 now.

Not using SP and no VBA code. Fields are not showing in
both datasheet and design views, and they are not greyed
when showing.

I've checked the reserved words. The fields are having
valid names.
