missing drive letter

Data cannot be accessed on a slave drive after reinstalling
Windows XP Home Edition. I have some data on my slave
drive, windows recognizes it but it just dosent give it a
drive letter. i tried contacting western digital but what
they told me it that its a windows problem not theres and
windows says that thell carge me a whole lot of money for
support. pls help
 
Right click on My Computer and select Manage. On the following screen,
select Disk Management. The drive should show up on the right side of the
screen from where you can assign it a drive letter.

when you installed xp on the drive did you format the drive ????,if you did forget the info unless you want to use a data recovery service
