Missing .dll

Greetings:
When Windows XP Pro boots onto the desktop, the following
message pops up (I paraphrase): "Cannot find
C:\WINDOWS\Sysoem32\NvCpl.dll." Note that "Systom" is not
misspelled and there is an inverted v over the "o." Once
I click on the "Okay" button, the computer continues
booting and once finished, seems to function well.
However, I am concerned about this message and would like
to know how best to correct the situation. Although this
is evidently a Windows dll, I hesitate to install XP over
itself as this tends to cause configuration problems.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Steve

I think the dll file is for a NVIDIA video card and refers to the icon you
would normally see in control panel. Not sure about the folder name though,
the default is normally c:\windows\system32\.
Try re-installing the video driver if you have a NVIDIA card, if you've
changed from a NVIDIA to something else then check in Add/Remove programs in
control panel and uninstall the NVIDIA driver.

First thing to try...
Look at START|RUN, type "msconfig" (no quotes) <enter>
Under the Start Up tab, if NvCpl.dll is evident, UNcheck its box.

If not, try a reinstall of your NVidia video adapter drivers. If this is
foreign to you, it's best to enlist the help of someone familiar with the
process.
