When I right click on a folder, I do not get the option to 'Create a Text
Document'. All others are there. Does anyone know what gives???

Hi Wesley. I guess I didn't explain properly (I already knew about the 'Send
To'). My problem is is that when I 'Right Click' on a folder, I cannot
create a 'New blank text Document'. For example:

In a folder (or desktop), you can right click and as a minimum you get the
following options when you select 'New' from the context menu:
1) Folder,
2) Shortcut,
3) Briefcase,
4) Text Document,

I don't have the option for number 3. I can create all the others. This just
(apparently) happened somethime last evening and I've been fighting with it
for about a day now.

Thanks for the assist.

RG,

New blank text Document or Briefcase???

Do you have TweakUI installed? If so, open it...
Start | Run | Type: tweakui | OK |

Click on Templates. Place a checkmark in Briefcase. Click Apply and then
OK.

Or Text Document

If no TweakUI, check these registry entries...

Briefcase right click\New Disabled...

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.bfc\ShellNew-

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.bfc\ShellNew-\Config

Briefcase right click\New Enabled...

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.bfc\ShellNew

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.bfc\ShellNew\Config

All fixed. I had the clue from Patti in windowsxp.help_and_support.

Thanks for the assist.

create a 'New blank text Document'. For example:

Get TweakUI - one of the XP Powertoys from
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/downloads/powertoys.asp

Once installed you will find it in Start - All Programs - Powertoys for
Windows XP

See its Templates page. *Probably* the Text Document entry just needs
rechecking. But you can also make entries as desired by just making a
dummy file from an application, saving it, and then in the Create button
of this page browsing to the file
