Hello,

I'm having some difficulty. A few of my users cannot view their contacts and
caleldar appointments when they're using Outlook in offline mode or not
connected to the Exchange server. They simply aren't there. As soon as they
reconnect the contacts reappear. I have tried renaming the OST file and
allowing Outlook to rebuild a new file, then resyncing the information
stores, but to no avail. They can see their mail just fine, just can't see
contacts or Calendar appointments. An Outlook address book does exsist in the
profile.

We are using Exchange 2003 Enterprise w/Outlook 2003. Any help is appreciated.

You must configure your Exchange Server account to use an (.ost) file for
offline use. Once you have configured an .ost file, use the following steps
to set your Exchange Server account to work offline:

1. Start Outlook if it is not currently running.
2. On the Tools menu, click E-mail Accounts.
3. Click View or change existing e-mail accounts, and then click Next
4. Double-click the Microsoft Exchange Server account to access its
properties.
5. Click the More Settings button.
6. On the General tab, click to select the Manually Control Connection State
check box.
7. Under When Starting, click to select the Work Offline and use dial-up
Networking check box. You can also click to select the Choose connection type
when starting check box so that you work either offline or online.
8. Click the Remote Mail tab, and then set the options that you want for
connection management and remote transfer.
9. Click OK.
10. Click Next, and then click Finish.
11. Restart Outlook, and then select to work offline.

How to Configure an Internet E-mail Account to Work Offline

Use the following steps to configure Outlook to work offline and use Remote
Mail with Internet E-mail accounts: 1. Start Outlook if it is not currently
running.
2. On the File menu, click Work Offline.
Outlook continues in the Work Offline mode until you disable the option in
the File menu.

Hi!

THanks for the response. That didn't solve the problem. These users are
already set up for offline use with an OST file. I've even renamed it and had
Outlook rebuild it yet they still can't see the contacts or calendar
appointments. Any other insight into this problem would be appreciated.
