My "send and recieve" menu button is no longer visible and it's not listed anywhere in the "customise" toolbar areas to add it back. Fine last night and this morning it's gone.

Also maybe related. There is no longer a Rules and Alerts option under the Tools menu dropdown. I have rules set up and they are working but there's no way to get to them.

Any ideas. I tried "Detect and Repair" and the "reinstall option" off the Outook menu and the office 2003 CD. No help. Is this a registry setting that could have gotton messed up?

Here's an update.

When outlook is first started - the send recieve button is there for just a moment. I'm guessing it goes out and does a send and recieve and then it's gone for good.

Also, if I can get to the tools menu before the send and recieve button disappears the rules and alerts option is present and I can click on it.

Something is turning these menus off after the program starts!?

You do have an active mail account installed and checking for mail, correct?
If yes, then try this:

Close Outlook. Find and rename outcmd.dat to .old. (If using Windows 2000
or XP, you will need to enable searching hidden and system folders.)

Once you have done so, reopen Outlook and it should open fine. You will
need to rebuild any custom toolbars or customizations as the file outcmd.dat
controls how the toolbars display. When it becomes corrupted, it will cause
Outlook to hang because it cannot create the toolbars that you expect.

After furious head scratching, Andrew P. Follett asked:

Alrighty, did that - no help. Yes I have an active email account installed
and can still recieve mail. If I want to check for mail "now", I have to
open and close outlook. Otherwise I have it set to check every 10 minutes.
I suppose I could tell it to check for mail every 1 minute but that would
certainly be the "poor man's" solution.

Any more ideas?

Another update.

I am running a program called Outlook Folders which is a shareware program
that emulates much of what MS Exchange does. We use it for sharing
calanders across a peer to peer network.

Turns out I upgraded that last night. If I disable that, my Outlook
problems end. It must be in one of the settings or interaction with that
program.

Any experience with Outlook Folders?

Thanks for your reply.

If I were in your shoes, I'd create a new mail profile, point it at my old
PST, and add my accounts back in.

I have the same problem about not seeing send and receive menu buttons in
email. Did you ever find a way to resolve the problem? I would be very
interested in your feedback. Thanks. Maury
