Missing Application Winhttp.dll

Hello would be grateful for some help please..error message as above cannot
operate live messenger windows defender or any windows programme. I have
however found the missing file but how do i get it to go where its needed,
computer was fine til my daugher updated the live messenger, it crashed with
this missing application and now pc runs very slow.

Hi Ally,
1= I would make sure the Machine clean from malwares and Viruses by scanning
for them:

For Virus scanners online:
http://www.sophos.com
http://www.avast.com
Scan for malwares from here:
http://www.lavasoft.com/products/ad-aware_se_personal.php
http://www.safer-networking.org ; for Spybot S&D

Run a disk CleanUp on your disk and Empty your Temp folder, internet file
and delete cookies.

2 = There is a HotFix you can obtain from Microsoft:
"WinHTTP Assertion failed" error message when you run a program that uses
WinHTTP services in Windows XP or in Windows 2000

3=If all fail download the Hijackthis and send the report to one of many
forums for analysis and troubleshooting:
When all else fails, HijackThis v1.99.1
(http://aumha.org/downloads/hijackthis.zip) is the preferred tool to use.
It will help you to both identify and remove any hijackware/spyware. Post
