Missing 2/3 of files in 'My Documents' folder

Today, when I went to try and open something through MS Word, and I couldn't
find the file. I then went to check out the 'My Documents' folder, and I saw
that almost all my files were gone for no apparent reason. It looks like
just about everything beginning with an "E" to the "Z's" was gone. I've
tried to restart my computer and I've tried the System Restore points, but
they haven't worked. I have no idea what to do now. Please help.

The files aren't in the Recycle Bin. I can't remember where I went, but
there was a place that allowed me to view "Recently Viewed Documents" or
something like that. When I went there, I was able to find 5 or 6 of the
documents that I was missing and I was able to open them. However, when I
clicked to check the properties of the file, it said that the files were in
the "My Documents" folder, which I couldn't see, so that didn't make sense.
So I don't know if this is a glitch, if maybe my computer is on some kind of
safe mode right now or what.

Hi

Run the following command from Start>Run:

C:\Documents and Settings\<your account name>\My Documents

The My Documents folder should appear. See if the files are still there.

I tried the Run command, but the files didn't show up. I think what may be
going on is that for some reason, the My Documents folder isn't showing any
of the files that have a filename that starts with the letter F to Z, or
something like that. I went to my MS Word, clicked 'Open,' and then clicked
on the "My Recent Documents" icon on the upper left corner. That showed me a
list of documents I had used in the past month. I opened up one of my files
that began with the letter 'G,' and then tried to save it. It asked me if I
wanted to overwrite the file, and I said yes. But when I went to check out
the "My Documents" folder again after this, it still didn't show up. So I
get the feeling that all my missing files may be hidden right now or
something to that effect, so I can't find it even if I search my computer,
but the computer still says the files exist. Any helpful solutions to this
problem would be greatly appreciated.
