Missed adware

We've got something on our machine which produces pop up
ads at regular intervals, whether we are browsing or not.
It also tries to install SearchMiracle.EliteBar on
startup. Antispyware blocks this and a scan deletes the
search bar, but doesn't find the trojan responsible. The
report facility doesn't work on our machine so we're a bit
stuck.
The symptoms look like Adware.EliteBar (Symantec) but the
specific registry keys and files mentioned inthe
description don't seem to be present. Any suggestions
would be welcome.
 
Apologies, I've just realised this is a duplicate posting!
Someone with the same problem has posted in the online
community thread, complete with a suggested solution.
