When I start up, it isn't always clear when the computer has finished
loading all the software. The egg timer appears and dissapears, I click on
Mailwasher and nothing happens. I cick again and I get a message: Mailwasher
is already running.

There is some sense in this, look a your HD light for activity. Even when
the desktop is loaded and there is no hourglass it sometimes takes a minute
or two to complete loading everything. Try cleaning up your system and
uninstalling stuff you don't need. A defrag may also help.

I was trying to teach some patience. Along with good advice from
Taff-use msconfig to trim down startup.Or even better use something like
startup cop http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,1759,1830362,00.asp

I click on it thinking everything is set to go but nothing happens, I click
again and get a notification 'Mailwasher is already running". Actually this
could be related to automatic downloads by the Antivirus?
