What is the minimum size or best size for an OS partition (XP Pro) and I only
have 20GBs...

Thanks

A normal install takes about 2.5 GB. Realistically you need at least 10 GB
to allow for programs, service packs, updates, etc.. With a 20 GB hard drive
I would just create one large partition. I recommend you install another
drive for data storage or replace the 20 GB drive with a larger one. Hard
drives are cheap. XP likes lots of space.

I have one 20gb drive with 3 operating systems on it

XP Pro (8 gb)
XP Home (4 gb) [Recovery partition]
Mandriva Linux 2006 ( 7 gb partition + Swap partition 1gb)

I have a test machine with a similar setup. If this is your only drive I
would never recommend this setup for a normal user. If you have another
drive and you are a maintenance fanatic then this setup may work.

Yes, agreed. It was only an example of what can be done with 20gb.

Agreed. Although a 10GB partion would be sufficient for Windows and an
average amount of apps, I'd just make the whole drive a single partition
and if you want more data storage add a second hard drive.

Easiest is often best.
