Hello

I have just completed coding some forms and reports and now I have to put together some documentation that includes 'minumum PC requirements to run MS Access 2000' - having a hard time searching these information - does anyone know where I can find some info

Thank yo

The actual bare minimum is actually pretty modest. IIRC it was something
like 133MHz Pentium II, 48 MB RAM, 1 GB HD, VGA display, and Windows 95.
It worked but was painfully slow.

A more realistic minimum is something like 233 MHz, 96 MB RAM, SVGA
display and Windows 98 SE. Either way, a CD-ROM drive or network
connection is needed or installing the software will be no fun.

Hi John,

thank you for the information. i am new to access -
i know how to code but never too sure on versions and its differences.

I am using a copy of the .mdb file given by the client -
if I open the file and in the Help, I see Access 2000 - can I
assume this is a Access 2000 version file ? I have XP and using
Access 2000. I don't have any other machine with other microsoft
office version to verify this.

I don't understand whereabouts in Help you'd be doing this. I don't know
any way for Windows to tell whether a mdb file is in Access 2, 95, 97,
2000, or later format. There's a shareware utility called ACCVER which
can do this and ensure that each mdb is opened by the correct version of
Access: http://www.aylott.com.au/software.htm
I am researching the same subject in mdsn, I came across installing
Access 2000 - steps to take is to install Access 97 and then
Access 2000 -- why is this so ??

It ensures that files needed by Access 2000 aren't overwritten by
earlier versions of the same files installed by Access 97.
appreciate if you could share your knowledge on this, if not,
a link to where I can read about it.

You've probably already seen this

Hi Cameron,

In those days Access was available as a stand-alone application or in
the Microsoft Office Professional bundle. Each was available as
"all-new" or as an upgrade pack (which would upgrade from previous
versions of Office, from just about any individual components of Office,
or from competing office suites).

But Microsoft no longer supply either Access 97/Office 97 or Access
2000/Office 2000 at retail: you'll need to find copies elsewhere (e.g.
eBay). (Possibly Office 2000 is still available as an MSDN subscription
download: I can't remember).
