To the person, that's if you have enough of a brain to be
a person, that scans these messages for e-mail addrresses
and then sends out a virus, allegedly from
Microsoft,....get a life you stupid, sad pratt!
 
Of course, if you could make a rule that looks for .scr in the newsgroup
message "body", this could be controlled. It can be done for the e-mail but
not for the news groups. I guess Microsoft slipped up here!
 
The person who released this e-mail message with the
Virus is not on this Newsgroup - could be anywhere in the
whole wide world!

Yep, but that person does not "scans these messages for e-mail addresses
and then sends out a virus" as a person ;-}
 
answer....don't use real email address.
some people have even included snail mail address.

It's fairly easy to set a rule that says 'don't download any NG message
600 lines though'. That'll take out viruses, and other binary items

that shouldn't be in a non-binary NG in the first place.
