My laptop (although only 15 months old) will, for no reason, shut right
down....The only way I can restore it is to remove battery, leave for a
couple of minutes, and then refit battery. The main supply is connected
and the battery is fully charged....any ideas please?

If after it quits, you let it sit foe a while, does it restart without pulling
the battery? If so it may be a heat problem.
When mine did that it turned out to be overheating. The heatsink on the CPU was
fairly clogged, and the thermal grease had hardened. It had to be disassembled.
Good luck,
Mike

Thanks Mike but I don't think it is a "over-heating" problem as it
doesn't re-boot itself.
Any other suggestions will be appreciated....Terry

I didn't mean re-booting itself, I meant can you re-start it OK? Sorry for the
confusion.

This certainly sounds like a heat problem. Does it have a
variable speed fan? If so, does the fan speed increase before
the shutdown? I have had a heat shutdown problem on my P4 3.06
GHz laptop when doing work this is both processor and disk
intensive. I solved the problem by removing the fan grille on
the bottom of the laptop and blowing it out with compressed air.
Some say compressed air isn't a good thing, but it works forme.
