Is there a program which will enable the functions of the three buttons at
the top right of most programs, to minimise, maximise or delete the current
program/page, to be carried out with keyboard combinations instead of using
the mouse?

No program needed!

Close window: ALT-F4

System Menu: ALT-SPACE
On the System Menu:
Maximize: X
Minimize: N
Restore: R

So, to Maximize window: ALT-SPACE X
Restore window: ALT-SPACE R
Minimize window: ALT-SPACE N

Eric

Hi Frank,

You can always use the standard Windows keyboard combination, I use them
when I work in others computers, but at mine, I use WinKey 2.8 on Win XP.
This program allows you, besides assigning kb shortcuts to folders or
files, to do what you want with only two-keys combination (windows
key+arrow up, left or right keys). Still you'll have to use Alt+F4 to
close a window.

Copernic stop the distribution of WinKey, may be somebody else host this
file.

hope it helps.

Thanks for your reply, but I was already familiar with the "shortcuts" you
listed. What I'm looking for is a program that will set up some even shorter
cuts that do not require finding and selecting from a menu. For instance, it
would be nice to just have two key combinations to simulate the left and
middle buttons. I agree that ALT-F4 covers the X button. Perhaps ALT plus
two of the other function buttons.

While doing this post, I experimented and found that in Outlook Express
ALT-F6 toggles the New Post on and off.

Thanks. Winkey 2.8 looks like what I had in mind. It's been taken off the
Copernic site, but I found it at:

There are some other freeware utility programs on this page which might be
of interest.
