Hello,

I need to move the existing XP Pro installation to a new
disk in the machine. The current drive (C:/NTFS) is
about to be added to a RAID configuration. Drive J: is
installed and is listed as FAT32. I want migrate an
exact replica of drive C: to J: and reboot to new
configuration. This should include everything...
registry entries, etc. I would prefer not to purchase
the latest version of Ghost. I thought about
reinstalling XP Professional then copying Windows folder
to J:. Would this work? Thanks for any feedback.

Hello Micheal,

The best reference material is the Microsoft Knowledge Base article 249694
"How to Move a Windows 2000 Installation to Different Hardware".
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=249694

While the title references WIndows 2000 the same procedure applies to
Windows XP.

Sincerely,
