(I'm seeing another thread on this generally, but can't seem to gleen out a
straight or simple answer... so anyways, I was just wondering:)

Anybody know if the Microsoft folks have contemplated extending the free
use period on the antispyware program they are offering?

Thanks!

(PS: even Google links would be sort of kewl,
if you're that type... >(o% )

Yeah it's going to be freeware if you are on Win2k/XP etc

I got a vague idea this was downloaded onto my machine a while ago in
an update. How can & I check this & how do I get the program to run?

I don't think you can download this beta software during an update.
You must go looking for it specifically. Look in your Add/Remove
Programs or Start Menu. Anyway, during installation it asks a series
of questions; you would have remembered it.

Don't think so. You're probably thinking of the M$ Malicious Software
Removal Tool. It's a quickie AV scan, kinda like a stripped down
Stinger. It's downloaded as a Critical Update with the monthly releases,
runs, and then removes itself.
