I was in the process of looking for the Microsoft Works folder in my
computer & was going to open it up when it said A file is missing & can't
open & to re-install works.Where does this program come from & how do I get
it.?Thanks

You buy it from a store. Sometimes it comes bundled on new computers.
It is not part of XP.

It must of been bundled in with the computer when I got it.I don't have a cd
for this.Is this something I should get or can this problem be fixed another
way.Thanks for your help.

Most often you need a new version of MS works with every new version of
Windows. By design.
 
It must of been bundled in with the computer when I got it.I don't
have a cd for this.Is this something I should get or can this problem
be fixed another way.Thanks for your help.


Tell us what file it says is missing. I don't know much about
Works myself, but it's possible that someone else here has a
suggestion for you.

Chances are, though, that if it says to reinstall Works, that's
what you'll need to do. If you don't have a Works CD, you should
contact the vendor from whom you bought the computer for help.
 
1st has anyone suggested using system restore to recover the Microsoft
works files back to the time before the computer was messed up.

2nd Some Microsoft works program can be repaired by using Add/remove
program if it is still listed their.


It could be legal, some oem companies bundle Microsoft works with
their systems.
