Using Windows XP and Works Spreadsheet.
Sometimes when closing and saving a file I receive a
message as follows:
"Insert the disk containing the documant A:\"title".xlr
The floppy disk is not in the drive, the drive door is
open, or the disk is write-protected. correct the problem
and try again"
Choices are to retry or cancel.
"retry" results in the same message.
"cancel" results in Spreadsheet closing down.
When I reopen the file, I find that my changes have been
saved.
What is causing the above error message?
Is it software or hardware problem?
Should I just ignore it?

Hi ... I have same problem ... Does anyone have an answer to thi
problem?
I am able to do a "saveas" to change to name of the file and also sav
with the current spreadsheet EXTENTION... that works ok..
When i do a "save" to save my updates I get the messages as posted b
Henry. Does save updates in to file ok...but get message..

Also found that if I "saveas" to the hard drive all works ok..
Any Ideas??

Lots of people in a newsgroup with WORKS in the title could probably
help you. This group is for the XP OS, which is not Works. Post in
an appropriate group. Bye bye now!

Why didn't you tell them something useful, like 'don't use Works...it
doesn't'.

Because that isn't useful.

Med did you check the program options to see if maybe it's trying to
autosave to the A drive?

If you save as and change formats, the next save will
probably reverts to the default for the WORKS wks
spreadsheet. I haven't use the WORKS spreadsheet in a while
version 3 for DOS in fact. AFAIK WORKS works only in the
wks format, but can save in many common formats (or even
open them).

That I'm not sure about. I also haven't used Works in years, very much
prefer Word, but the problem the op is having that's interesting is the
whole A drive thing.
That's why I am thinking, and I don't even remember if Works has an autosave
option for sure, that the problem is the program trying to autosave to a
floppy disk.
