Ok, well this is probly a very very simple problem, but i search high and low for the option.

When i highligh text or something like an image or graths etc
if i hit backspace it will erase it!

but this aint werking for me and i am so use to highlighting the text and pressing backspace, but when i press it now it just stays there i either got to go to edit and delete or hightlight and hit delete, but it is bugging becuase i am not use to using it,

do anyone know how to turn on/off the option so i can get the normal way back?

Edit: i cant even highlight a letter and then replace it with another

What version of Word? Does it happen in every doc or just one particular?

Assuming every doc - in Word XP go to Tools -> Options -> Edit. On the left, make sure "Typing replaces selection" is checked.

Thanks for the answer Leaping Gnome

except i got it earlyier on this day lol, just i forgot to close this one!

but thanks anyway
