I am using Windows XP and have Microsoft Word. When I open a new document it
takes at least 30 seconds to get a cursor, sometimes I never get one but get
a "Program is not responding" error msg. When I do get a cursor I can type
3-4 words before the letters start appearing on the screen. All other
programs on the computer are working fine. Any suggestions?

Place the WORD CD into the drive and do a repair install.

open word without a document go to help and choose detect and repair have
your cd handy
if this doesn't work reinstall word

Thanks to all of you who responded.
I guess I wasn't clear enough when I typed my original question.
When I bought my computer it was already loaded with software. I received 3
restore cd's labled 1, 2, & 3. There is no Microsoft Word CD. There appears
to be no way to extract programs from the restore. It's all or nothing.
