I have a newer gateway computer that came with windows xp.
I installed windows and have microsoft task launcher but
no microsoft word installed. I believe I have a cd to
install it but when the screen comes up and prompts you to
enter the id # verifying that it was legitimatley aquired
and not stolen (product code located on packaging and/or
supposofely on the back of my hard drive. I no longer have
that packaging with the authenticity # but there is a # on
my hard drive but when I enter it it tells me it is
incorrect. Can you suggest whatI should do?

Microsoft Word is not now nor has it ever been a part of Windows XP. It
might be part of a software bundle that is supplied by a system manufacturer
with a new computer but it is not a part of any Windows operating system.

The number Gateway would have supplied, the number that is usually on a
sticker on the CPU Case or on a package that might have contained the CD is
the installation key for Windows XP. If Word when you ran the installation
CD that came with your computer, it is either on a separate CD or it was not
included as with your system.

If you believe it was or was supposed to have been supplied with your
system, you need to contact Gateway.
