My computer was attacked by numerous viruses and so i used a security disk to
cean up the problem. The results of the clean up showed that there were many
files not used and so it was suggested that i delete this, and so i did. Now
microsoft word has gone from the system. When i click on it the message
'windows cannot open this file appears'. I have since got rid of the disk
used to install word so is there any way i can download it from the computer
or retrieve it without a disk?

You may have simply broken the link from the desktop shortcut to the Word
executable. Search your drive for the file WinWord.exe. If you find it, make
a new shortcut for it.

If the program really is gone, then the answer is no -- you need the
installation disk. If you bought Word or Office at retail instead of getting
it bundled with the computer, you may be able to get a new disk (you may
have to provide some proof of ownership). See
