I wanted to add a background and a border that I saved to my computer off of
the internet, how do I use them in microsoft word? I use Microsoft Word 2000.
I tried to use the background option, but it seems like it's only meant for
web pages and not to print out. I also heard of water marking, but I'm not
sure if I can do that on MS Word 2000 or if it's even for backgrounds?

Thanks

I've already looked there, and I haven't been able to find anything to help
with my problem.

Create a watermark, then if you want to use it on many new documents,
save it as a document template. Load this template before typing up a
new document. At least that's what I gleaned from what little I fooled
with it this morning. I was able to add a Garfield image to the header
menu, stretch it out across the page, and I believe you save as a
template from there.

The instructions kinda' miss with my version, or at least they don't
clarify some areas.. After you open the Header Footer view, click
Insert, Picture, From file, select the picture. It shows up in the
header. Now you right-click the picture, click Format Picture, change
Color to Watermark. Stretch the picture to fill the page. Close the
Header toolbar, and click Print Preview. You'll see that the picture is
in the preview. Save as a template, or start typing, pasting..

Hmm.. It can be simpler than that.. I just inserted the pic, made it a
watermark. But it does want to take focus and move around. I guess
there's a way to hide it, or keep it from moving; hopefully this will
get you closer.

hmm well the watermark makes the image look faded, not exactly what I was
looking to do, but it's ok. But I can't get the image to fill the entire
page, no matter how much I keep stretching.

Word displays document backgrounds in Web layout view only. To switch to Web
layout view, click Web Layout on the View menu. If you want Word to display
your document in Web layout view the next time the document is opened, save
your document in this view before you close it.

Document backgrounds are designed for viewing documents only. The background
that you create by using the Background command on the Format menu will not
print. To add printable borders or shading to your page, use the Borders and
Shading command on the Format menu.
