Hi All,

I just received my new Wyse Winterm that came preloaded with XPe. However,
it did not come with a Windows XP Embedded CD. Does this seem unusual? I was
hoping the packaged CD would come with Microsoft Windows Embedded Studio so
I could start modifying the OS. Does Microsoft Windows Embedded Studio have
to be purchased separately or something? or should I call my reseller.

Thanks

NO!

YES!

Or you can download trial version from MS.
or should I call my reseller.
Your choice.

OOPS!

Didn't see that one coming. Can I run and build target images with the eval
on a Windows 2000 Professional machine or do I have to create a separate
partition and install XP Pro and eval on that to build them? After I read
the requirements, I still wasn't sure so I wanted some confirmation.

Thanks

Gary,
I'm not sure Slobodan maked clear for you the situation so i will add
following:
Windows Embedded Studio is used by developers to create an XPe image, not by
customers to modify deployed system. There's no such thing as "Windows XP
Embedded CD" if you mean installation(distro) CD as it is for other OSes.
What you can change in OS is determined by developer who add or does not add
particular functionality/user interface to your copy of XPe. Customizable
settings should be described in User's Guide or similar document supplied
with device you bought. The only CD with XPe you can obtain as a customer is
Recovery CD which can be used to roll your system back fo factory default
(like CDs supplied with notebooks).

Hope this helps,
Al.

Hi Gary,

Read response from Alexander.
If you can't obtain project files you can't modify a thing. Also if you do that with eval version it will work only few months due
to time limit in eval version.

He can always reverse engineering the project using the current runtime :-)

Of course you are right :-)

PS. I've done that with Wyse terminals.
