Please help. Everytime I start my PC, the following box
and message come up:

Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library

Runtime error

Program:C\Program Files\Common files\ Symantec
Shared\ccEvtMgr.exe

R 6025

-pure function call

I can close this box and proceed without any further
interruptions. I tried to get to the Symantec site, but
keep getting refused. Also, I did have a "wasser32"
problem, but was able to download the patch and cleanup.
So now that's gone, but I still have this problem, which
started with the Wasser problem.

Thanks in advance!

From your description of the problem, I believe your computer is not
completely virus-free. In order to get to the Symantec website and run
Live Update for your Norton Antivirus, check your hosts files.

Go to XP's Search and set the preferences to Advanced, to look in hidden
files. Then search for "hosts" without the quotes. You'll get several
hosts files and several lmhosts files. Double-click on a file to open
it, and you'll get the dialog box from Windows asking how to open it.
Choose "select from a list", select Notepad, and make sure the little
box for "always use this program to open files of this type" is *not*
checked. Now look at the hosts file - the only entry in there should
be:

127.0.0.1 localhost

Be sure to scroll all the way down to the bottom of the window if there
is a scrollbar. If you see anything except the above entry, delete it
and Save. Do this for each file you found. Now you should be able to
use Live Update to update NAV's virus definitions and do a full scan.
