I need it to use all my usb item with my SN45G, I do not want to install Sp1,
and I am waiting for all the bugs in SP2 to be worked out, is there a way to
download it seperately?

There is no separate download available for the USB 2.0 update
support for Windows XP. I suggest installing SP2 as it is in its final
form and works beautifully.

sorry, but Sp1 and Sp2 are not an option as the software and programs I use
fail to work once either of those service packs are installed. I do need the
driver so that my camera and other equipment work properly.

Have you tried running your programs in "compatibility mode"? As far as a
separate way to use USB 2 without SP1 or 2, I'm afraid you are SOL.

And what programs would these be, pray. I run all sorts of weird and
wonderful things on this system and have *NEVER* had any issues with either
SP1 or (in the three days I've been running it) SP2.

So, what crapware are you running that won't play with either SP?

The only way to have XP support USB2 is to install SP1. If you don't want to
do that (and you're an idiot) then you'll just have to live without it.

Hi Robert,

Have you contacted your software manufacturer to resolve why their software will not work with SP1 or SP2? The reason I ask, is
because you say that the software works with just XP. Are you getting a valid install of the Service Packs? I had a client who
was running Norton Anti-virus 2003 on his computer when I did the upgrade, it reported no errors. We then ran EDS software
(Medicaid Billing Software) and it locked up solid. I uninstalled SP1 and everything was fine. I read somewhere that you should
disable Norton. I disconnected from the Internet and disable Norton reinstalled SP1 and everything was fine. Over the two years
that SP1 has been out, I've probably run into a half a dozen cases where I had to jump through hoops to get SP1 to install properly.

Theoretically, if your software runs on plain-Jane XP it should run with the Service Packs.

crapware? the programs are no more crap than anything you're using. and you
must be a completely social loser to have to resort to insults. the programs
I use work fine and as soon as SP1 is installed, they crash, which would
indicate that PS1 is the "crapware" then. I was told if it's not broke, don't
fix it. I guess bill rather fix and break than fix and mend.

this reply was directed towards "Miss Perspicacia Tick" whom I note seems to
have a thing about not using her real name.

I have and they have stated that the problem is with MS screwing something
up, I used to run NT and know that the individual updates could be gotten if
they were needed, if say a single uodate in the SP did not take or was
corrupted you could reinstall it, I know that should be possible with these
SP. I also have issues when I have no control or list of what the individual
updates are in the SP, if I pay all this money for an OS, I expect to have
control over my property.

Hi Robert,

After reading all your posts, I have to think, you must have some kind of
hardware issue. **Most** software that will run under 98, or up, will run on
XP SP1. I have only had one compatibility issue with software in XP and was
able to run it in compatibility mode. This was under SP1 and I have upgraded
whatever program that was, I don't remember what it was though.

LOL, JAX

Nope, not a hardware issue. I may have to nuke XP and reinstall NT4 since
that seems to be the only way I can have control over software I own. the
compatability mode that xp comes with is like having a screen door on a
submarine, in my opinion. has never worked like it's claimed to. I'll be
posting photos of me either microwaving my XP cd or burning it and the book
it came with.

Hey Jello,

The OP'er seems to want to argue with anyone who tries to help. As far as I
care, he can jump in the microwave with his disk.

XP's compatability mode is laughable at best.

The issue with the software, *NOT* XP (whatever the developer(s) might say -
developers never blame their products). I can run anything on this box -
even 3.1 legacy stuff, with both SPs installed and I've yet to have a single
problem. Maybe you shold learn how to use your computer properly instead of
blaming MS for something that clearly isn't their fault. The problems are
most likely due to poor coding.

Hi Robert,

When you paid for WinXP, you did NOT buy it. It is NOT your property. What you paid for was a license to use the program on one
computer.

I, like you prefer to be in control of what gets installed on my machine. Unfortunately, if you want the full benefits of SP2,
it is an all or nothing deal.

Basically I install a SP, then remove or disable anything I don't like or want. As an example, one of the first things I did
after installing SP2, was to disable Security Center. I have used ZoneAlarm and Norton for years (the only virii I have pick up
have been my own fault).

One of the things that I would like to see Microsoft do, is create a SFC for the SP. I've seen to many cases where it ended up
being a bad install of a SP rather than the machine or individual softwares.

I know how to use my PC, and I have double checked there are numerous errors
with both SP's and hell, look at IE, so buggy every security expert said dump
it. I know for a fact that the probl;em isn't the software, it's MS. they
charge me a arm and a leg for a POS OS, then deny my any control of what
updates I do or do not want. I miss NT to be honest, at least with it I had
control over my OS.

I guess the MVP means "Most Vulgar Person" since so far I have had slurs,
insults and derogatory statements made towards me supposedly from people MS
seems to regard. I would have to agree with Mr. Dvorak's statement earlier
that MS may be in it's twilight years from the way it's runnning it's
customer support into the ground and now marketing a low end XP worldwide.

as for whomever this jupiter jones thing is, the deserve to be named Most
Vulgar Person.

Nope I take it all back - in this instance it's most definitely a PEBCAK
error.
