Has anyone else been given the runaround by Microsoft when trying to use
their "free" upgrade after buying a qualifying version of XP?
The first time I submitted the online form and mailed in the required proof
of purchase it was returned with a non-sensical letter saying my hardware OEM
was responsible for supporting the software. After numerous attempts to
contact Microsoft and re-submitting scanned copies of the forms I gave up and
started over.
I re-registered for the upgrade and sent the proof of purchase again to to
the requested address. Now I have received an email saying they never
received the proof of purchase and are requesting me to send it to a
different address than they originally requested.
My reply to the Microsoft email bounced. I think this free upgrade offer is
an illegimate ripoff.
