On a news programme it stated that XP need updating
urgently, and should be done soonest, I have checked the
updates and it say's there are no critical ones?
If my XP needs updating urgently were do I get the
updates from please?

The place to get updates in ... Windows Update. At a minimum, you will
find it in Start, Help.

Don't believe everything you read: the only things really urgent when
running a computer connected to the Internet is: common sense, a good
firewall, an excellent antivirus program and running Adaware and Ad-watch.

A good backup of your windows and data partitions and, then, consider
updates and read what makes them critical: you might not be in the least
concerned by what is critical for others.

Well, that's a damn good recipe to get someone into trouble!

If there are no updates for your PC then your PC is already completely
up-to-date so there's nothing you need to do.

I know. I have since seen his other posts saying the same stupid thing!

John;
What a recipe for disaster you write.
Common sense suggests to install ALL Critical Updates unless you are
absolutely sure you do not need it.
Unless someone is a Windows expert, the computer needs them all.
Only an expert can make a proper informed decision about many of the
Critical Updates.
Normally people who come here to ask are not Windows security experts.

John;
All operating systems (not just Microsoft operating systems) need
updates periodically.
You should be checking and installing for Critical Updates
periodically.
Since none are listed as needed, someone recently installed them or
you have it set to update automatically.
