Microsoft update takes too long

Hi,

I upgraded Windows update to microsoft update, but this one takes at
least 5 minutes to search for needed updates on the computer whan I
check the microsoft update page. Is this normal??

My specs: Athlon 2500+ , 1GB Ram, Windows XP professional
