Due no fault of mine my two Windows XP and Windows Me
computers will not network Windows XP and Windows Me
programs for local printer and internet sharing. Spent
two days trying all available free online help and using
all available articles on the subjects of Internet
sharing and Networking. All hardware and software is
correct. Now Microsoft wants me to pay $50 for online
help. WHY?????

we need more information to help. can you ping each other? or post the

So whos fault is it? Should MS be responsible and absorb the cost of
someones ignorance, or failure of a cable, NIC, router, or other network
component. XP and ME, given serviceable components and correct
configuration will network without problem. In spite of your statement that
all hardware and software are correct, I'd say there is a better than
average chance that you have a hardware, software, or configuration
problem.

You have not provided us with any information to help you troubleshoot so I
suggest you try these sites if you have not already done so for step by
step intructions.

Hello Duncan;
You have to learn to post the necessary information, so that the "folks who
know" can help you. This is the price you pay for FREE information. Keep
reading the postings in this Newsgroup. You will, by trial and error, learn
to post something that gets a positive, helpful reply. I wish you well.

Getting different versions of windows to talk can be a PITA, but when this happens, the first thing I check is to make sure that both computers are on the same subnet.
