During installation of an out-of-the-box XP home edition I
received the following error message: "The file
dsuiext.dll was not copied correctly." Then I get the same
message for many more files,i.e. epsecsnp.dll, mobsync.exe,
parport.sys, msdxm.ocx, etc,etc. After navigating web
pages 'til I was almost crazy I finally gave up. To get to
e-mail support there is a requirement for product ID (not
product key , which is in the box). How do you obtain
product ID from something you cannot install? Talk about a
Catch 22!!

Hi

Before you try Microsoft support replace your RAM. File copy errors are
almost 98% of the time due to bad RAM. I built a PC a few years ago, bought
bad RAM and called Microsoft support. Hours go by with no "real" help.

Greetings --

Problems copying files or corrupted files during installation are
most often caused by defective or sub-standard hardware; in order of
likelihood, either RAM, the hard drive, or the motherboard. On much
less frequent occasions, a bad CD or defective CD drive can also cause
this.

Have you made sure that your PC's hardware components are capable
of supporting WinXP? This information will be found at the PC's
manufacturer's web site, and on Microsoft's Hardware Compatibility
List: (http://www.microsoft.com/hcl/default.asp) Additionally, run
Microsoft WinXP Upgrade Advisor to see if you have any incompatible
hardware components or applications.
