Microsoft spurned us after a house fire

Our house fire destroyed everything we owned, including all of my microsoft
office & my XP CDs with it, along with the computer, all of my proofs of
purchase, licensing, etc. When I called Microsoft, I was told that they
could not issue me any replacement CDs.
Corel, on the other hand, promptly sent me replacement CDs for a $35 cost
(which is reasonable and appreciated).
I'm disgruntled and disheartened. You'd sure think there would be a way for
Microsoft to "keep track" of its registered users.

hey dude ,don't get snippy. you know no one reads past the
first page on the posts. too much effort ,i guess.
gotta put out the word that microsoft support sucks and
they don't keep very good track of their files on anything.

She has 11 replies to her previous post. And big f*ckin deal. A CD burnt. If she lost a hubby in the fire would she demand her inlaws replace him.

Anyway. In the previous thread the answers fall into two camps
1. Claim on your insurance
or
2. Ask MS for the replacement disks. Others and I posted links telling her how to do that.

It all depends what exact editions of the software she has. If OEM the license expired with the computer (MS regards OEM as leasing software, Source Australian OEM Product Manager). If retail then they will give it to her.

You buy a car...fail to keep the necessary paperwork, don't pay insurance
(back up or store discs off-site)...car burns up...will the manufacturer
give you another car????

No. But software isn't physical, it's a license to use. You can't burn a legal right.

Sorry about your loss but do you really have to post this multiple times. Call your agent and be done with it.

What a moron. you ask a question, get an answer and then
ignore the answer. People get stupid ideas about who to
blame for things, Microsoft is not to blame for her lack
of wisdom. I read each question/response. Your
singlemindeness about blaming microsoft, puts you in the
same crowd as those suing fast food places for making you
fat!
and the incredible lack of ethics lawyer who took on the
case!

You don't want help, your just trolling for attention!
