Any idea why a sane person would do such a thing? AOL owns Netscape so
perhaps Uncle Bill thinks Netscape is a better product than Internet
Explorer!

Dear Floppy Removal Man,

Sounds like you need to reinsert your floppy. First of all the article
clearly state SPECULATION!!! Even assuming that it isn't, Bill Gates has
had one abiding theme for the past 10 years, "He who controls the Internet,
controls the World." So why would he take a financial position in AOL (very
successful) when he owns MSN (somewhat successful)? AOL + MSN controls the
World more than MSN alone.

Netscape is just a minor blip on the radar.

Since when is sanity a prerequisit for anything?

AOL can own Netscape and I say Internet Explorer is better than Nets-crap,
one of the worst browsers I've ever used is Nets-crap and is the only
application I've seen crashed a Linux box.

A much scarier thing I saw on Australian TV is The Hon. Sir. B. Gates, (you
believe this man is a Knight in the (former) colonies of England?) Chairman
of the Mother of Satan (MS) laying down his plan on overtaking T.V. Who'd
want a whinpy web browser in that case?

MS Windows is a weapon of mass destruction, what will you do about that Mr.
President (and Dick Head Cheney)?

probably on the same lines as 640k is enough for anyone "the internet
will never catch on". Bill tried to make MSN "the internet" at one time,
AOL tried the same thing. The idea was that 'they' control all knowlege.
The rest is history.

Maybe Bill still thinks it'll never catch on and by getting in with AOL
they can form their own intranet and need never bother anyone else.
Here's a toast to it happening very, very soon.

Of course, it could be that they both want to work together to put out
VoIP :)
