Automatic updates continues to prompt me to install this update even though i
have run it nummerous times as well as downlaoded it and installed it manually

the first link does not work.
following the second one if i try to uninstall the update [based off the KB
number] it tells me a whole slew of programs will not work. also it says the
update was installed in May.

If you do it correctly and follow the instructions then it shouldn't.
There was a KB on MS website but it has disappeared or I can't find it.
I will try again to see if it is still there.

Regards,

i followed the directions and deleted the entry and reinstalled the update
and i still get notified by automatic updates that it needs to be done
the number is KB891781
i did not run the update from the automatic updates section. I did it on my
own

AutomaticUpdates Success Content Install Installation Ready: The
following updates are downloaded and ready
for installation. This computer is currently scheduled to install these
updates on Tuesday, November 29, 2005 at 3:00 AM: - Security Update for
Windows XP (KB891781)

You have Automatic Updates (AU) configured to install downloaded updates at
3:00 AM (daily). Is the machine running and connected to the internet at
3:00 AM daily? I suggest leaving it so overnight tonight and see if
891781/MS05-013 finally installs. Afterwards reconfigure AU to install
updates at a more appropriate time for your schedule and computer use.
