I received an e-mail from my niece to see some snow sculptures. When I tried
to open the file I got a message that said, "This file does not have a
program associated with it for performing this action. Create an association
in the Folder Options control panel." My question is, How do I do this?

Do you have PowerPoint? If not, you need it, or the PowerPoint viewer, to
see this file....

Is PowerPoint installed on your PC? Likely not, as this normally creates
the correct association during install.

For a free PowerPoint viewer, see...

Once installed, it should automatically launch when a PPS file is
double-clicked.

Be aware that this is not the PP program itself, used to create such
presentations, but only a viewer - to display them.

Actually that's the wrong question. <g>

If you're trying to open a PowerPoint slide show and you don't have an
association for .pps files, it's not that you need to create an association,
it's that you need to install PowerPoint (or a reader; see below). If you
had the program you needed, you'd almost certainly also have the association
to it.

PowerPoint is not part of Windows, but a separate program, available for
sale either by itself or as part of Microsoft Office.

However, if you just want to view these files, and not create your own
PowerPoint presentations, you can download the free Microsoft PowerPoint
Viewer 2003 at
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...27-43ab-4f24-90b7-a94784af71a4&displaylang=en
or http://tinyurl.com/3nend

I already have the PowerPoint Viewer....I need to create a power point
presentation. I have one that I started, but to finish it I need to use my
Computer at home. I cannot find the program in my computer.......HELP

If you don't have a PowerPnt.Exe on your system - you don't have
Power Point available. You'll either have to get a copy or perhaps
use a Remote Desktop session to your work computer and access
and edit the presentation that way.

If you can't find it, it's probably not there. If you thought PowerPoint was
part of Windows, sorry to tell you that it's not. It's a separate
application, available for sale either by itself or as part of Microsoft
Office.

Powerpoint is not a part of Windows, it's sold separately.

You might also check out www.openoffice.org, which distributes Open
Office, a free, open source office applications suite. That includes
Impress, a presentation creator. It can open your PowerPoint file and
allow you to work on it.

Neither the Microsoft Office application suite, nor any of its
individual component applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access,
Outlook, etc.), have _ever_ been "part" of *any* Windows operating
system. They are, and always have been, separate applications, that
must be purchased and installed separately.

1) Go to store/shop that sells computer software.

2) Purchase either Microsoft PowerPoint or an edition of Microsoft
Office that includes it.

3) Return home.

4) Insert installation CD in PC's CD drive and follow the on-screen
prompts and instructions to install application and desired additional
features.
