Running XP-Home 2002 and Office 2002. Was using Outlook Express. Changed
to M/S Outlook so I could back up email. Worked well for a while and now
'not responding' when I try to open. Have rebooted several times. Got msg
Outlook shut down and will reopen in Safe Mode but it doesn't.

Am back using Outlook Express. How do I fix Outlook to get it to open?

The first thing to try is deleting or renaming
%AppData%\Microsoft\Outlook\outcmd.dat.

I had been closing Outlook after a few minutes of waiting. Finally, I let
it run and after 8-10 minutes, Outlook finally opened. But, it sometimes
locks up when I check "Send & Receive". After several minutes it will
open. I can't find %AppData%\Microsoft\Outlook\outcmd.dat on my computer.
HELP!

Click Start>Run and enter

%AppData%\Microsoft\Outlook

in the Open field and click OK. %AppData% (i.e.,
C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Application Data) is a hidden folder.
