Microsoft Outlook problem

I am running Windows XP Home for several years. Yesterday all was fine with
Outlook and when I returned my Outlook would not send or receive mail. When
I try to delete a file I keep getting a messaging interface error. It
appears that it tries to send the mail but the items remain in my outbox and
no mail is coming in. I have deleted/reinstalled my email accounts and have
re-booted several times and my ISP and domain hosts say the problem isn't on
their end. Also, on one mail account, the message is still in my outbox yet
it showed up on my web based server mail and blackberry 50 times (as though
it was sent every minute). But that was just from one outbound mail account
that is set up.

Any ideas on how to troubleshoot just Outlook? Can I reinstall just Outlook
after I confirm a backup of my files?

I suggest you post in microsoft.public.outlook - and mention your version &
SP level of Outlook, as well as what kind of mail accounts you use.

You might initially try a detect/repair of OL, but then it may be something
related to your pst, and since you dont post OL version or pst size, we dont
know
An uninstall/reinstall of OL doesnt impact on the pst

Thanks will try that. Also note that I just set up my email accounts using
Outlook Express and it is running no problem. So it's definitely some
problem with Outlook.

How large is your Outlook .PST file?
What version of Outlook?

Even if NTFS allows large files, Outlook may fall over if the .PST
grows near (not even over) 2G in size - as can easily happen, given
that Outlook stores EVERYTHING in a single .PST file!

If so, the fix is as follows:
- create a new Personal Folder or whatever it's called (i.e. a .PST)
- in Outlook, move some material from the main .PST to the new .PST
- compact the old .PST

Personally, I would not store anything in a .PST that I ever wanted to
see again. Outllook's .PST are a death-trap; break the file, lose
everything, and if you don't have Outlook, you can't access it.
