I recently got my computer fixed and Windows XP was
installed onto it. Are programs such as Word, Excel, etc.
supposed to come with this operating system?

Not unless the manufacturer said they would. Office and Windows are
separate products, and always have been

Sorry, but unless you purchased Microsoft Office with
your new computer (retails around $600) you won't have
it. Did you have it before? If so, locate your CD and
reinstall it.

No. Never have. The confusion arises from the fact that many manufacturers
bundle office with the sale of a new machine.

No. These are applications from the Microsoft Office suite and have never
been a part of any Windows OS. You will need to purchase these separately.

Greetings --

Neither the Microsoft Office application suite, nor any of its
individual component applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access,
Outlook, etc.), have _ever_ been "part" of *any* Windows operating
system. They are, and always have been, separate applications, that
must be purchased and installed separately.
