I started having a problem with Office always wanting to install when I turn
the computer on. And I don't think I have a problem with it. I have checked
it all and everything I have on here seems to be up and running. So I don't
know why it needs to be installed when I already have it. My question
is---how do I get it to stop asking to install ? I have to click Cancel 3
times before it will quit. It's just very annoying. Thank you.

Have you tried posting your question in an MS Office
newsgroup? This is where the MS Office experts meet!

Sorry no I didn't. I will do that. I am knew to this and didn't mean to put
this in the wrong place.

This is usually a result of when installing office you let in options that look to the network for the install components.

Thank you for telling me that. But it was installed when I had Win2000Pro
put on here this past spring. This problem just started a week or so ago. i
have run adaware, spy bot, and all those. I just wish it would stop. But at
least all my programs run fine and I have no other problems with it other
than it trying to install. Thanks again.

What the installer is telling you is that it needs something that it does not have and wants. This can be a
result of what I originally told you. It can also be a result of tinkering with what was installed originally. For
example. JASC PaintShop Pro will throw hooks into the shell that puts shortcuts to PSP on all your context
menus. If you try to stop that the next time you access PSP it will sqwak and demand you put in the CD
ROM to finish the install. It's one reason I don't use it anymore. Now Microsoft Office applications start at
every boot. You can not stop that. If you look at the Task Manager right when you get to the desktop you
will see office applications starting and then stopping. This is where you are getting the installer nag.
