My files system is corrupted and needs to be replaced on my home computer.
Do I need it or can I just delete it? If I need it, how do I repairit?

Your post makes no sense!

if your OS is corrupted reinstall and or do a repair, boot to the install cd
and select repair when asked

Your post is confusing. What do you mean by "My files system is
corrupted"? Note that .Net framework is not specifically needed unless
a program installed on the computer needs it, and at this stage only a
few programs require it (or unless you program in .Net which doesn't
seem to be the case).

Okay, let me explain - when I run Norton Systemworks, it comes up with errors
that I am missing files from the this program - hwo do I reload it and if by
chance I delete th eprogram ( Microsoft Net Framework 2.0) does the game I
need it for typically have it as part of there download?

..Net framework can be obtained as a download from the microsoft download
center or though windows update.

Whether your game needs it or not it's best to check with the game
vendor. Some programs that need a version of .Net have it on the
installation CD. Note that there are several versions of .Net, and they
are not backward compatible, so some programs need .Net 1.1 and others
..Net 2.0, but not all programs written for 1.1 will work with 2.0

Personally I would say you are better off with out Norton Systemworks,
and unless there is some problem with the system don't rely on it to
tell you some problem exists.

The missing file is in on your computer, it just isn't in the right place.
You can copy it to the folders that are looking for it.

I have NetFramework 2 loaded and I am also running Norton System Works and
Norton Internet Security. What files does it say you are missing? I don't
recall receiving a notice from Norton about any missing files.

probably msvcr.80dll
Same problems after installing Encarta Student 2007 Premium.
Encarta upgraded me to net framework 2.0.
