Microsoft Management Console (MMC) has twice locked up my
computer, grabbing nearly all of its CPU cycles.
Applications run like molasses. I cure the problem by
invoking Task Mgr and ending MMC. I'll watch to see what
tool invokes it, but will appreciate any suggestions.
Thanks, Harry

There are some known issues with MMC. From time to time the console
will not start but crash on one of my PCs. From what I found in the
Internet, this may be related to the NVidia video drivers on that
computer, so your problem may have a similar cause.

Thorsten,
Thanks - Preliminary signs are that you solved my
problem. I got new drivers from NVidia -- many more than
I expected. I tried the suspect application, and MMC did
not take over the PC. BTW, to detect the CPU hog I used a
tiny program GLINT, an Activity Monitor for NT, 2K, & XP -
- highly recommended. You can find it thru Google. I wish
it would work under 98, etc.
