Is there any way to allow the use of the Microsoft Mail
transport with Outlook 2002. Everything I have read on
the Microsoft web site says it is unsupported, but doesn't
mention if it is possible to use. Our office is using a
Microsoft Mail Post office but we have some computers
using Outlook 2002 and some using Outlook 2000 (which is
able to utilize the Microsoft Mail transport). Any help
would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Thanks for your help!

I'm trying to install MS Mail with my Outlook 2003 too. So far, it
doesn't seem to be working. Perhaps some clarification of the
instructions on Microsoft tips will help me and others?

A. I cannot find the extension "inf" to show anywhere on "mapisvc.inf"
but I assume it is the correct file as it is the only one with that
name in that particular directory. Can someone reassure me I'm editing
the correct file?

B. Number "2" instructs to add the lines to the end of the file...and
says "Add this to the end of mapisvc.inf (watch for broken lines - each
line begins with PR_, except the last 3):) The last 3 lines shown,
however, are these:

;WIZARD_ENTRY_NAME=WizardInformation
PR_RESOURCE_FLAGS=SERVICE_SINGLE_COPY
Providers=SFS_AB, SFS_MS, SFS_XP

Is the "PR_" that begins the 2nd line in the correct place?

C. Are the bracketed items [SFS_AB], [SFS_MS], [SFS_XP], [MSFS] in the
list to be on their own line even though they do not begin with "PR_"?

D. Once the steps are completed, what then? How do I add MS Mail or
will it just show up in Outlook? When I have tried to go to control
panel and click on "Mail" I am not able to find MS Mail to add. Can
someone give this dummy :) some explicit instruction to make MS Mail
appear?

Thanks so much!

In a Windows Explorer (not Internet Explorer) window, click Tools>Folder
Options... Click the View tab and uncheck the "Hide extensions for known
file types" box.

Yes, thanks - I was able to see the extension and it is the correct file
but I'm still stumped as to why MS Mail is not operational
