Microsoft Freestyle and Windows XP

As I try to load my joystick hardware into my system,
which I just upgraded to Windows XP, this message
appears. "Sidewinder Game Device Software 3.x installs
drivers that are incompatible with this version of
Windows." What do I do
 
Connect the device to the PC, go to the Control Panel and click on Game
Controllers. Use the AutoDetect feature and XP will install its built in
drivers.
